Pathological liars may lie about their identities.
Pathological liars are not easy to deal with because lying is such an ingrained part of their personalities. As opposed to someone who lies for a reason (like he's cheating on you), a pathological liar will lie about everything. He'll lie about what he had for breakfast and what he's doing on the weekend. His anecdotes will be extremely far from reality, but he will defend them as if they were true.
Dealing with a pathological liar is easy in theory, but difficult in practice. You need to let him know his behavior is unacceptable, let him know you're aware of it and let him know there will be consequences. Then you need to follow through.
Subtly weave the fact that she lies a lot into conversations. Don't confront her, but rather confront the behavior. Try to open up a frank, honest discussion about her lying.
2
Repeat the confrontation often in order to make the discussion of lying part of your everyday life, just like lying is.
Confront him with lies that you are certain are lies. He will defend them all as if they were true, so you need to make sure you are absolutely sure the lies you confront are actual lies. Pick your battles carefully, but be sure to pick battles.
4
Make her aware that you will cut her out of your life if the lies don't stop.
5
Follow through with cutting him out of your life if the lies don't stop. While this may not help him in the context of your life, if enough people do it the lack of positive reinforcement should encourage him to stop lying.
Tips & Warnings
The trick in these steps is to make lying no longer advantageous. If you allow her to lie, she will lie; if you confront her, it will no longer be advantageous for her.
